Optimizing SEO For Adsense

When adding Google AdSense to your web page, it is important that you don’t stuff all the AdSense javascript near the top of the page. You should only ever consider adding Google AdSense to your page if it has a really useful resource or at least 200 words of content (that is a bare minimum). You should try add the AdSense code beneath your content and navigation and then use CSS to position it where you want.

This way Google will index your navigation links (other pages) and your content before realising that you are not just trying to make money from AdSense. It is also better from an accessibility point of view, because if someone requires CSS to be turned off then they can read your content before being bombarded by advertisements.

It has not been proven that putting your AdSense javascript near the top of your page can harm your ranking, however from personal experience I would advise you not to do this as I find it easier to rank when my advertisements are at the bottom of the HTML source code. You should do this with all javascript and not just Adsense, unless you want the javascript to be in the <head> part of the document.

Try and make the rest of your navigation look like your AdSense, this is not agains the Adsense terms and conditions and it will also encourage more people to click your advertisements, because they look like they are part of your site. You are not even damaging your users experience by doing this because the Adsense advertisements are always relevant.
